Lia Levitt is a global citizen who has happily lived in Connecticut her entire life. As a teenager, her grandmother told her she wasn't destined for an average life, and this remark became the self-fulfilling prophecy that has guided her journey. This journey has always included a passion for seniors, inspired by the love of her grandparents and the experience of "growing up" in a nursing home. Lia is an off the charts extrovert who balances her propensity to speak extemporaneously with her ability to listen empathically.
Lia completed an undergraduate degree in Communications with an emphasis in Human Relations. She went on to begin her first Master's degree before finishing college and earned it two years later. She has an M.S. in Leadership & Strategic Management as well as a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Lia earned her Master of Philosophy and (presumably) final degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Her M.Phil is in Organizational Dynamics with an emphasis in Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting. She is also a Change Management Practitioner and holds numerous professional certifications from a multitude of global training organizations in the facilitation of various leadership training and the delivery of assorted organizational development assessments and tools. Lia was proud to earn her National Certified Dementia Practitioner credential in 2019 and continues to pursue additional learning in the senior living field.
Lia's professional career began in nonprofits as a public speaker and curriculum development specialist, designing preventative education for a rape/ domestic violence crisis center. She went onto briefly manage a mentoring program for children with incarcerated parents before transitioning to a customer facing role at an insurance giant. Lia then was promoted to one of two curriculum designers and facilitators of a prestigious sales leadership program there, before moving onto a global engineering firm. There, she created the first leadership development program & facilitated training in South America. She was hired independent of her full time role to rewrite a translation of a German book, for relevance to English readers. She worked most recently at a financial services company heading up their learning and leadership development department before leaving to pursue her dream of working with seniors and writing. Lia developed a college & graduate school admissions consulting business, which she has maintained throughout her entire career, working to help students achieve their educational dreams. She also continues to consult for global companies designing and presenting interactive content across America as in the capacity of an executive coach. Through Ain't She Sweet, LLC, she is actively working to broaden the impact of her work to focus her work on healthcare professionals.
Lia has passion for many philanthropic organizations and is most proud of her work as a longtime Hospice volunteer working directly with dying patients and their families. She's innovated several large scale charity events from diversity fashion shows to a special event, which raised enough money to grant the wish of a dying teenager through the Connecticut Chapter of Make-A-Wish. She currently is a Promise Leader with the Sandy Hook Promise Organization, focused on promoting community and school safety with an emphasis on gun violence prevention. in 2019, Lia began offering her programs to homebound seniors through a virtual senior center, which provides video facilitation across the country. She is also certified as a support group facilitator through the Alzheimer's Association and co-leads a support group in Connecticut.
Lia is an obsessive planner in the spare time she finds, she travels the world.
